Conrad Tokyo: Hotel Review

If you are looking for a luxury stay in Tokyo and have Hilton status + points [or $$$] to spare, the Conrad was a very nice hotel.

Pros:

  • Wonderful service for being a Diamond member [shoutout to Fumio]
  • Breakfast was great [and they gave me an extra bfast when I emailed ahead of time I was arriving early]
  • Pool with city views (although just 3 lanes)
  • Limousine bus pickup/dropoff spot for Narita Airport

Cons:

  • Pricey
  • Can be a trek to get to room [i.e. transfer from 1st floor to higher floor lobby to another elevator]
Booking:
I used a Hilton Free Night Certificate that I get annually on my Aspire credit card- a Saturday night would've been 100,000 Hilton Points or $1048 USD after taxes and fees.

Arrival: I came from another hotel in Shinjuku, and used uber/taxi rather than taking multiple suitcases on the subway. I arrived before 9 AM to see if I could get lucky with early check-in.

Check-in:

The entrance is on the first floor, and then you take an elevator to a higher floor where there is a large lobby [and a massive essential oil diffuser]. Diamond members can also check in on the executive lounge floor, where I went after dropping off suitcases to have breakfast.

Breakfast - Option at the Club Lounge:

Menu - one choice of an entree:
The chef prepared the entree fresh:

Other options to have at breakfast:

Egg with uni:

Lobster Omelet:

Nice views from the lounge, and these Trader Joe's bags are trending in Japan too!

I upgraded to a larger suite for a fee around 70 USD, and the room wasn't ready til about 11:30. But still pretty early for a weekend check-in!

The room:

King suite with a bay view

Bathroom:

Afternoon snacks:

Evening cocktail hour:

Turndown service PJs + tea:

Breakfast in Cerise:

One entree of choice per person:

Elevator Lobby Art:

Nearby:

This clock designed by Hayao Miyazaki was one of the last things I saw the morning I checked out of Tokyo, and just a short walk from the Conrad.

In conclusion:

While I mostly took food pics and the included breakfast was great, the highlight was actually the friendly staff (someone may have snuck some extra Conrad teddy bears for us when I only saw one in the room) and they had suggestions for dinner and activities our last night as well. It truly felt like a luxury experience to have a breakfast of uni and eggs/lobster omelet while overlooking the Hama-rikyū Gardens, and to swim and see skyscrapers. Next time, when I've saved a bit more- I will splurge and try the Hinoki bath experience at their spa!
