Roku Kyoto - Hilton LXR hotel review
The Roku Kyoto LXR was the most relaxing part of my first Japan trip (and first time in Kyoto!) - if you are a Hilton loyalist and want to use a free night certificate in Kyoto - this was a nice use (and one night even made my Aspire fee worth it). I'd recommend for a more leisurely visit to Kyoto.
- Pros
- Amazing service - Akane was one of the nicest hotel staff I've ever met!
- Nice rooms with tubs - separate toilet area.
- Outdoor thermal pool was relaxing
- Picturesque valley away from hustle and bustle of city
- Cons
- Not super convenient for tourist sites besides Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion)
- Food is pricey ($200 semi-annual Aspire credit was not enough to cover dinner cost for two for one night)
- Not near public transit- have to taxi
Grounds
Lobby
Checking in - tea room.
- On a Friday- was able to check in around 1 PM - but onsen rooms were all booked apparently.
First Room - Deluxe King (top floor, regular/non-suite)
Roku Spa and Gym
Restaurant - Tenjin
Dinner at Tenjin- Course menu - highlights were miso venison and strawberry dessert
Turndown Service -
Second Room - Garden Onsen (Twin)
Overall this is a fairly newer Hilton and the guests are more international than Japanese (I heard French and Chinese guests around the pool). It was a nice splurge on points, and I'd generally only recommend for Hilton loyalists who want a more leisurely trip to Kyoto and not looking to do a ton in Kyoto.
